Risk Management Services

CME Mission Statement

The purpose of the API CME program is to plan, develop and present continuing medical education activities based upon identified needs in the most appropriate format, for our insured physicians and other healthcare professionals.  Through these educational activities we will enhance the skills, knowledge and attitudes of physicians leading to better patient outcomes.

CME and Education

Physicians take risks everyday – it is part of the job.  At API, we understand these risks.  The purpose of our CME activities is to present educational information based on identified needs.   To this end, the following outcomes are goals of our CME programs:

  • Physicians will acquire knowledge, skills and awareness of risk management principles and emerging risks
  • Physicians will understand the importance of patient safety, to improve quality care, thereby preventing malpractice claims, reducing risk and improving defensibility
  • Physicians will have the knowledge and skills to complete performance improvement projects

CME Accredited Programs

API has developed CME accredited opportunities which include Category I and Category II self-study activities, as well as live CME programs.

Category I (Formal):

Category II (Informal):

  • API Case Analysis – ‘Read, Record, and Go!’

The case analysis is approved for .5 credits of Category II continuing medical education. Additionally, if you wish to obtain .5 Category I CME credits, each analysis includes information on how to do so by studying and submitting the applicable questions.
